The SPEU consists of dual controllers (primary controller and redundant controller), dual power modules (primary power module and redundant module), DC/DC converters to control the sensor unit; it also receives commands, ancillary data, transmit status of health, and science data from Command and Data Management Unit, the computer of the FORMOSAT-5 satellite. In normal operation, only the primary controller is on via the primary module. In special condition, the redundant controller can be turned on via the redundant module only after the primary controller is off via the primary power module.
